Pig Stickers - Folding Bowie Knives
Pig Stickers/ Folding Bowie Knives are characterised by a blade which protrudes from the handle in closed position. In this position the knife can be used as a knife with fixed blade to flay the game's skin and to fragment it.
By returning and depressing the lever the blade can be opened manually and the length of the blade is nearly doubled. In this state the knife can for example be used during the trailing of wounded animals to kill the game.
These practical knives have already been manufactured for more than 100 years in different implementations: with lever or press button as release; with or without guard and with blades of a length of up to 30 cm / 11.8''.
Since their invention the term "pig sticker" has been used to underline the intended use during the hunt.
HUBERTUS pig stickers are equipped with a guard of solid nickel silver which is placed aside to the handle when the blade is closed. While folding the blade to open position the guard swivels in front of the handle. A safety lever is used to lock or unlock the blade. All fittings are made out of solid nickel silver.
